[TSB] Why Am I Playing Farmville?

Day 2,489, 05:45 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by The Norfolk

Hello once again,

I'm back with another article where I bitch and whine and then maybe bitch some more. I'll try to weave some humourous anecdotes in and the odd attractive female for the guys out there. Who am I kidding, you're all guys, girls don't exist on the internet. If I get bored part way through I may throw in an insightful comment or two to keep you on your toes.

Let the bitching commence, this time I'm going to fuck around with the economic module and see what comes of it.

Obligatory attractive female person.

First off, can someone please remind the admins that eRepublik is meant to be a social strategy game? After which can you enquire why they decided to make it not only possible but encouraged to never talk to anyone ever? Hey, it's not like the social part of this game is the only reason it still exists, like it's the website's unique selling point, you know, that thing that's vital to the site's success. Nahh, can't be.

Reight, let's jump onto the companies page and see what's what. Two clicks and a CAPTCHA later and the management of my business empire is complete, wasn't that exhilarating. This shit makes Farmville look hardcore.

For want of anything else to do, I started selling shit which was when I stumbled across the markets. The entire food sector, half the game's global economy, revolves around undercutting each other. That's it. No skill or strategy involved. Even Longshotz could master this. You know what would be good? Change the energy limit from 10 energy per 6 minutes to 1 piece of food and you have a diverse food market in an instant. It's not hard guys, are you even trying?

Half way there guys, you can do it.

At least the weapons sector has some sort of variation between products, but as with most things eRepublik, that's where the praise abruptly ends. With everyone and their mothers using Q7 weapons there is even less diversification of qualities. Make that shit more expensive, hike RM requirements to make the higher ranges only available to the tanks, let the average folk afford the average weapons and the newbies only afford the cheap.

Actually fuck that noise. Live up to your own standards and throw in some tanks and ships and reward cooperation. Make a tank that requires a number of people to operate together, allow platoons of guys to attack in a group with a damage bonus, allow fleets of tanks to do the same. Reward cooperation, get people working together, make the game fun again.

Oh and don't you fucking dare make it a drop like basookas or a gold purchase, I know what you're like. Replace the higher weapons qualities with machines of war and just leave Q1 for standard rifles.

Last one, that's all the ladies for now gents.

I'm gonna finish with the contentious work as manager rule, some of you love it, some hate it. The fact of the matter is this, this is as good as it gets with that rule, you cant have an economy where everyone is producing, it just doesn't work. Scrapping that rule is the first step towards a better game. Imagine a module where huge multinational companies duke it out to be the best, where they pay off media moguls and politicians alike to get an advantage, at this point I'd love any integration and interaction in the economy module. I'd rather play Corruption 2015 than Farmville.

Alright,

I'm out.
