[Talon] I'm an arrogant bugger that lost to a rather nice wookie

[Talon] I'm Running for President, and I'm Gonna Win.

Oh, hi.

My Friends,

It is my great privilege today to inform you that I am running for President. Four times before I have answered my nation’s call, and each time I have left a successful and prosperous UK in my wake.

The month ahead will provide a unique set of challenges for our little corner of the eWorld, challenges that I think I am very well suited to tackle. In the next thirty days our allies in TWO will face continued and heightened pressure from our enemies. Our economy will continue to wax and wane under the weight of a broken economic module. Our parties will continue to strive for unity against elements that would shove their own family under a bus for political points. Yes, there are challenges ahead, but I have always relished a challenge and am confident that I am the man to see us through into a brighter, more unified future together.

Planning in my office to tackle the challenges ahead. No expense spared!

Those of you that remember my previous terms will remember a diplomatic, fair and even-tempered man that, even if not always agreeing, is happy to listen to all sides and include all in government provided they merit a position on talent and intelligence. This time would be no different, and I would certainly look to build a team around me that is not only capable, but that will excel in all areas and unite the UK through strong leadership.

The challenges we face are best tackled by experience and an understanding that, as Liam Neeson once said 'Your focus determines your reality.' Put another way, we need a President that will continue to repair our international image to keep us prosperous, demonstrate some fiscal responsibility in harsh economic times, and provide a political environment in which budding politicians from all sides can mature and improve at the political side of the game.

In the past I have tried to emphasise a focus on teaching youth and bringing along a successor, but to my mind almost every choice in people I made simply brought my mentees to the forefront before they were ready. Ergo Deus had many rough eges that hadn't yet been knocked off, this cost him. Bohemond4 would admiit himself that he made mistakes- I actually still think he has real potential and the experience he now has would make for a very different term another time. Bigant was... Bigant.

Bigant could always make me smile.

This time I will be more than happy to mentor younger players and help them reach a semblance of political maturity, but I won't be encouraging them too far or too fast this time. Erep is a long term political game while being a short term wargame, and sometimes I think we forget this or try to use a carrot and stick model, offering political success before it is wise to do so as the carrot for our political side.

I expect that most, if not all of you will be sceptical at the talk of unifying the country at this point. I agree that it’s a tall order, but as we’ve seen this month the current crop of party presidents have really made an effort to tone down the rhetoric, rein in the more outspoken in their own parties, and try to work together.

The cringe on my face when we fall from this ideal and into the infighting.

And ultimately, this: The Country President is the one individual in the country that must believe a better future is possible. If the person in charge doesn’t believe, doesn’t lead in that direction, then how can the rest of us follow? Carlini has gone a good job in this regard, but there is always more work to be done and I am the man to lead us in this particular battle.

I’ll say it right here in my announcement too: A Talon term will not be filled with war. We’ve just managed to win ourselves a Q7 defence shield and keep it mostly intact. Our bank balance hasn’t even yet recovered from our failed airstrike and numerous other wars. Now is a time when the UK needs to build and strengthen while helping our allies, many of whom are in tough spots at the moment. We need to build our relationships and our image as a team player: We can only prosper for doing so.

And with that you have my main priorities for the month ahea😛

Promote unity between UK citizens by leading by example

Little or no war while we build our strength and finances and help allies

A strong cabinet with a mix of experience and youth

An eye towards training newer players not to immediately take power, but to become politically mature

Perseverence and skill are the orders of the day. Keep at it and you can achieve anything in the eWorld!

In short: I’ll maintain the status quo but I’ll do it well and with style, while trying to set up the next lot of UKers to lead after me.

That isn't to say there isn't more that I'll be doing, or indeed that every CP does in their terms. But in my article I thought you'd like to see what the focus of a Talon term would be, and those items fit the bill.

And finally, this: Do you want to be part of the team? Send me a PM with your vision for government, and tell me what job you think you could do and how you would do it. I'll be appointing all the usual ministers so do some research and let me know if you want to be involved at any level.

Remember the message for the comments: Unity! If you're being negative, you're contributing to the problem and really have no right to complain about others. Just keep that in mind.

Yours,

Talon Karrde
