'ello there, I'm the Speaker of the House of Commons for this term, it's my job to open a PM and then freestyle stuff in an attempt to make congress less crap, or some such like.
The purpose of these articles I'll be bringing out over the course of term will be to keep the public informed about what's going on in congress, what we're talking about, finding out which congressmen are mongs, releasing some debate articles, and at the end a review on activity, I might even include pie charts, bitches love pie charts.
THE FIRST WEEK OF CONGRESS: A SUMMARY OF WHAT WE'VE BANGED ON ABOUT
It's been almost a week now, good lord that went fast.
Congress has been discussing some various stuff, most of the issues have been posted about in the congress discussion forum (Which can be given the once over by anybody here):
So, we can see here what we've been doing, basically:
1. Speaker act reform/getting rid of
2. Sorting out immigration
3. Upcoming MPP renewals
4. OH GOD SOMEBODY WANTS TO MOVE EVERYTHING TO THE FORUM AGAIN
There's also been a discussion in the PMs about why Poland hasn't given us our land back, but Dan Moir discovered why after he dealt some damage to Poland he apparently wasn't supposed to deal.
Another thing that's came up is a proposal to raise Weapon VAT, however Popovic was unable to convince mongress that it was a good idea.
GETTING PUBLIC OPINIONS ON THINGS
Congress have talked to death about methods of comms, but it came up again,oh joy. So Woldy went off and did a poll on it, which showed that most people would like to see things mostly in game.
I've given congress the freedom to discuss things wherever the hell they like, so I won't be having a vote on that proposal to move discussion to one place or another, I'd rather we got on with more important things.
To encourage some in game discussions though (giving the people what they want, #me4PermanentSpeaker), I'll be doing lovely in depth articles over the next few days about the other 3 points I mentioned above, showing all the congressmen's views and things, to allow congressmen to comment about stuff in the public eye, and to allow you non-congressmen to read about and have a say about what's going on (and probably have a nice bicker about it all with some congressmen, too), so we can get EVEN MOAR public opinions on how we're terrible.
OTHER THINGS ON MY TO-DO LIST
1. Add a bloke that didn't see my friend request in time to the congress PMs
2. Discuss with congress about the possibility of having some IRC meetings for quick fire discussions
So that pretty much it for this article, but on an unrelated point, I think putting Dan Moir in the same PM as Popovic was the best decision I've ever made.
If you want to suggest something for me to do as speaker, do say in the comments and I'll stick it on my to-do list.

Great article Rob.Also I don"t think that it"s the best decision you"ve made it for putting both of us( me and Dan) in the same PM Congresssional Group.Also I am not against him or you,just saying that Dan don"t like me and I don"t like him,I wont hide it.As conceirneing of increasing VAT for weaps was my intention not to increase price as the price wouldn"t much increased.I"ve admitt that it was my mistake for the slappy attempt to convince Congress to vote YES for increasing VAT.Other things in your first article as Speaker of the House are well placed and very informative and the whole article is very readable.Good work Rob and keep going on.Greetings from Alex.

When we were robbed by Chewie and Bigant we had over GBP1,000,000 or it's equivalent on the government books, last month work tax was doubled for no reason (other than to give the thief more money) we don't appear to be running at a big deficit, there have been no proposals to massively increase spending, so can someone please explain to me why in every congress term there is always someone who proposes another tax increase with no explanation of why the government needs more money?
A large tax increase is important enough and should be thought out well enough for parties and candidates to explain in their manifesto before election and not to be put through congress after they have our vote.
We run a large operating deficit every month, this month due to BigAnts reckless spending even before his theft but its the same story most months.
To me our current levels (with 2% work tax) is a good level to hold our tax at, it provides 210,000cc a month over a 30 day month, allowing the government to maintain a healthy MPP stack, fund COs and other initiatives.
MPPs and COs are the main expense, so it had to be 2% to avoid trouble with MPPs and such.
Don't forget MPP = Money Permanently Purloined
Gets you more battles to fight in without moving around at least.
The foreign affairs guys seem to think they're more than just extra damage apparently.
Chewie stole the vast majority of the treasury in December and there was about 1.2m? for BA to steal 6.5 months later, during that period we were frequently at war, lost regions and before he stole the money ba blew a large amount on weapons and pointless CO s if we are running at a large deficit where did all the money that ba and chewie stole come from?
How much does the extra work tax produce ? Our tax income appears to be about 175k pm based on this weeks figures, mpps are 130k(didn't it use to be a lot less?) that's an excess of 45k pm not including extras such as rent from orgs, profit from the money market and anything else I don't know about, the regions of ours that Poland hold earn another them 35k pm that's a total excess of 80k pm plus extras. An annual excess of very roughly 1,000,000 not including donations and prizes from competitions. It's been a relatively quite week and market prices are very low I would assume that during wars and competitions spending on weapons and food increases and the tax yield increases.
Even if the above is a fiction of my imagination and vodka it still doesn't explain my main point why in every congress term is there someone who proposes another tax increase with no explanation of why the government needs more money? Stop treating voters as idiots congress candidates or their parties need to tell us what they propose to do during their term before the election but a lot of them can't be bother to produce a manifesto or presentation they just expect voters to blindly vote for the party which must be a dream for potential PTOers, how many voters still voted for their party even though the party badge on the election page made been changed to VOTE MORIARTY?
I think we can safely say most of congress doesn't really want to increase taxes any further.
Proposals for tax increases with no real explanation always get voted down. Why every term there's a daft proposal like that is to do with the fact that PPs occasionally select people who don't really know what they're doing.

Uou have 3 thing to worry about: sign MPP when the are due, pass the law to donate mone from state to National Bank when needed and third one should be decided by president and discussed with him/her. If Poland decides you are not longer needed, they can wipe us. Can you vote "no" for that? I love how some people like these little power games where they feel like they are actually doing something when in reality, playing sims is doing more...

Good luck with that Rod, now I'm not implying that our congress members are weak-kneed, political time-servers who are more concerned with their personal vendettas and private power struggles than the problems of our country. Nor do I suggest at any point that they sacrifice their credibility by denying free debate on vital matters in the mistaken impression that party unity comes before the well-being of the people they supposedly represent. Nor am I implying at any stage that they are squabbling little toadies without an ounce of concern for the vital problems of the eUK today. Nor indeed did I intend that readers should consider them as crabby, ulcerous, little self-seeking vermin with furry legs and an excessive addiction to alcohol and certain explicit sexual practices which some people might find offensive.
