"Sinagogue attack" Will this spark a new war?

Today morning, two palestinians armed with handguns and knives attacked a synagogue in West Jerusalem killing 4 men while they were praying. Police gunned down both assailants after a shootout exchange, leaving one policeman critically wounded.
Police think it can be because the dispute of the Temple Mount and the actual situation of colonization of "palestinian territory".
Police is right now working in order to find the causes of this coward attack against unarmed civillians.
Is this the initial stage of a new bloody Intifada? Will the Israeli Government finally make a move to protect its citizens from the extremists? Or will the citizens have to defend each other against terrorism?
Let's hope there is finally a solution for this problem.
