[QED PRO] BDP analyzed!

Q.E.D. Profiler: Belgium Democratic Party (BDP)
This is the first article describing the findings of my survey for a single political party. I’m going to start with the party that has the highest participation in the survey: Belgium Democratic Party (or BDP).
All disclaimers from my previous articles still apply.
Key Stats:
Current Party President: Christian Kowalsky
Members: 35
National Rank (in number of members): 2
Percentage of members who filled out the survey: 30,3%
Orientation: Far-right, Authoritarian
Info: “NEW TIME NEW POWER Hold on to your dream, because better tomorrow is in front of us!”
Wiki: None
A few notes to start with…:
With 30,3% of the members filling in the form, I would say I can give a fairly good view of the party’s stances. However, it has to be noted that almost all members fill in exactly the same answers. For all but one question, 9 or even 10 respondents fill in the same answer. This wouldn’t be too odd if the choice was “agree” or “disagree”, but with a 6-point scale it’s statistically pretty surprising.
I will not judge or even guess what causes this, but feel free to debate this in the comments section. Are they all agreeing with each other? Have they discussed the survey before filling it in to have one voice to the outside? Were they told what to fill in by their political leaders? Are they a party of visionary unity or dictatorial authority? Leave a comment!
Immigration & Regulation:
I would dare to state that the stance of BDP on immigration and integration topic is well known: they would like to see the borders completely open; and remove the idea of HOF/HC status for people not having eBE in-game citizenship. The Law Book should also be scrapped according to BDP: only the eRepublik Laws should apply in our community.
Communication:
BDP would like to see the forum not used too much – although no-one would go as far as to tell we should not use it at all. They have a strong preference for in-game PMs as main communication. Governmental articles are currently at a good level; if anything, they would like to see rather more than less governmental articles.
Economic and social cohesion:
Communes are the utopia for BDP as far as production is concerned, supported further with domestic taxes (VAT and Income Tax) being rather low. Import Tax should be maxed out.
There something remarkable about low domestic taxes and communes in eRepublik. As that’s not specifically about BDP, I’m going to make a separate QED Blogspot article on this. (Yes, that’ll be a new QED category! Joy!)
Foreign Relations & Military:
BDP seems to hold the middle in all Foreign Relations and Military issues, with scores mainly around 4 (that’s the “As you force me to choose, I’ll go this option”-answer). Therefore, I won’t go in too much detail: slight preference to join a side instead of staying neutral, slight preference to have some MPPs and slight preference to have ambassadors.
QED SUMMARY:
When I put those numbers into my growing Excel file, it shows that BDP is…:
- a more socialist party (mainly caused by the very strong preference for communes),
- searching to give people full freedom (no law book, no immigration rules), and
- aiming primarily on the own community (no rights for HOF, no public forum).
With all formulas on the backgroun
😛On a scale from -10 to +10 they would score -4.18 on the Socialist / Capitalist axis, and +4.93 on the Regulated/Authority vs. Liberty/Anarchy axis. On a scale from 1 to 10, they score a 4.5 on the internal/external focus.
Let’s put that into the gri
😛
I have to dismiss the orientation they have on their party page, stating they are Far-Right Authoritarian. Far-rights would never seek open borders, and Authoritarians would never strive for as much individual freedom as possible. If I may be so bold to propose something – regardless of whether it’s a possibility in eRepublik:
QED Orientation: Left-wing Liberals or Anarchists… whichever they prefer; both titles can be worn with pride.
Transparency: The Results:
For the transparency and/or number fetishists among us:
I’m looking forward to the comments! (especially of BDP members, to see if they recognize themselves in these results.)
Kind regards,

Which party should be next? Only possibly when enough people of that party have filled the survey here: http://goo.gl/forms/4peQQNdA6M

This is again an outstanding article of yours.
As a current Spokesman and the future Party President, I have to tell you the following; you have concluded rightly our members are expected to follow common political guidance. Therefore their answers were unison. It is not a dictature and no rulership of any kind. It is our common political opinion we agree upon.
About our party profile; it is again more socialist libertarian oriented than far right as it is mentioned above.
The communication channels as mass PM are again more practical and more common for us to use.
As for the use of the Forum; I need to tell you even in some bigger and the more powerful countries in the eRepublik (etc. Croatia) was recently big discussion about the quitting of national Forum and abandoning it. I don't see therefore any special reason why eBelgium should be exception of this practice.
Working in the communes is more sort of an idealistic dream and not really applicable in our case.
Implementing lower domestic taxes and the higher import taxes to stimulate domestic production is our general political idea we support.
Free immigration and no HOF's represent our common standpoint.
Foreign relations and foreign policy; eBelgium being small and not very influential needs to have some stronger allies on its side.
We are about to change our identity and our political strategy in the following period.
Lioncoeur for Country President !!!!
Thanks for your detailed and clarifying comment! 🙂

What factor holds them back on that scale from being higher into 'anarchism'?
That's yet another great question from you!
Getting a 10 in the grid, would require all extremes (so 1 or 6). The 5.6 and 1.4 on the most important determinants already make that they aren't completely at the top - although nearly at it...
However, there are two other factors that count - to a lesser extend - to the vertical axis: government articles and MPPs. A completely anarchist party would never want to see any governmental articles. Also, they wouldn't want the government taking care of them by signing many MPPs. BDP is at the middle of these topics, even a bit to the 'regulated' side, drawing thema a bit more to the middle... However, as these topics count way less, they're still a very liberal/anarchist party...
* with the main determinants obviously being Immigration Rules and the Law Book
