[MoFA] Modularity and New Horizons

Day 3,177, 04:31 Published in Mexico Mexico by Secretaria de Exterior

Hello there!

First of all, it has been a while since I wrote an article in English, and as some of you might already know, it's always difficult to write something in a foreign language so please, I request you to not be harsh and if you feel like doing so, to correct the mistakes you see in this article, I'll really appreciate it.

I've been MoFA of Mexico for almost a year and (allegedly) a requirement for being a good one is to inform the populace about the shenanigans of the Diplomatic Affairs the world might experience. I, being a millennial, am very lazy and in about eight months I have only written three or four articles and, as much as I like the current situation, I'll start to write articles on a regular basis.

I hope you like the article.

Topics to discuss:

- Argentinean MPP
- MPP's Graphs
Adriatica
Asteria
Pacifica
NEXUS

- Rental Agreement with Spain
- [Contest] A new horizon, a new look.

MPP Policy

Argentina

The relationship between Argentina and Mexico has historically never been good.
Since the creation of Argentina to the game and the subsequent foundation of PANAM (Pan American Alliance) and the ALA (Latin American Aliance) six and a half years ago, we've been enemies. Hell, even just a week ago I published an article regarding the policies Mexico had since the end of CoT, being the principal one our anti-Argentinean stance.

We've been traditionally enemies, we've been apart for so long that's impossible to say when was signed the last MPP between our nations and we have fought in so many occasions that inclusive I couldn't believe we could be allies this soon.

Now, we have just signed an MPP, and I have to say that this is a really big step. Yet we've been so many times one against each other I can assure that this is a new beginning. This could be the start of a new partnership, so I ask all my fellow citizens to be open to this new relation and to see it as a new experience, because after six years it was being time to give this relation another chance.

MPP Graphs

Today, Mexico's MoFA office will launch a new section, where we'll always give you some information on how the connections between the countries of the eWorld are developing. To ensure you I do not have the power to distort the graph there is the explanation how the visuals work, however I have to say that this is nerdy stuff, so please either skip this or prepare yourself for boredom.

To start with, the countries and the MPP's are represented by nodes (circles) and edges (lines). To have a country represented in it, said country has to have one active MPP.
The sizes of each country are determined by a mathematical algorithm, that in simple words calculates how influential are the countries towards each other.
The positions of the MPPs are calculated by the computer itself, by setting a certain amount of repulsion between each node and attracting the countries who have a MPP, this is repeated until the graph stabilizes itself.
At last, the colours of the countries are defined by another formula, basically being the fraction of the countries that fall within the given groups minus the expected such fraction if MPP's were distributed at random.

With all of this said, let's look at the graphs:

Day 2781

Day 3176

As you can see, the world has endured a lot of changes. Since that day, we have seen the creation of Adriatica, the exit of HungaryGreece, Argentina and Brazil from Asteria, Pacifica receiving all of these countries then loosing three of them in ten days and the subsequent creation of Syndicate, and even NEXUS, the proposed alliance already existing.
With all of this changes we now have a very different set of MPP's in the world.

First of all we can see the existence of four groups:
- Adriatica (Blue)
We can see that a group has formed in the left of the graph being mainly composed by Adriatica countries, having some close allies like Ukraine, the United Kingdom, Albania and Germany in their sphere of influence.
The common denominator in the group is that everyone here have an MPP with Chile. One thing we can observe is that the northern part of the cluster has MPPs with NEXUS and the southern part has MPP's with Syndicate.
None of these members have an active MPP with an Asteria nor Orion country.

- Asteria (Orange)
This group consist of Asteria and Orion alliances and some Pacifica and Nebula countries.
All of them share a MPP with Serbia, and none of them have an MPP with Adriatica countries. The only exception to the rule are the Pacifica countries, specially Russia that has MPP's with every group in the chart.
In this cluster we can also find the country with most MPPs of the eWorld with the amazing number of 26 active MPPs, really an astonishing number!
We can see this side having a division on their allegiances, with a north part having MPPs with Nexus and the southern part having MPPs with Syndicate and Pacifica.

- Pacifica (Magenta)
Here we see two alliances, Pacifica and Syndicate.
The central countries in this group are Latvia and the United States, still the main force on the group is Syndicate.
This I can say, is the most interesting cluster, as half of it (Syndicate), not having an active MPP with the core of Asteria and the other half (Pacifica) having a mix between Syndicate and Asteria countries.
We can expect this group to make big changes as them choose what side they will be.

- NEXUS (Green)
Last but not least we have the NEXUS cluster.
It is mainly composed of Bulgaria and Macedonia, and some of the proposed countries who could form the alleged NEXUS alliance.
They have two common characteristics: their powerhouses have MPP's with Chile and Asteria countries and none of them have an MPP with a country who has an MPP with Syndicate. This strong animadversion against Syndicate is fueled by the current campaigns the world has, so in the future there's the possibility that these countries sign more MPP's and make the graph more realistic.

Rental Agreement with Spain

There's not much to say, apart that most of the previous debts their government had are now paid.
Currently, the Mexican congress is debating either to extend the agreement or to end it, so I'll give you info as soon as I get it. By now, Spain will stay in SEoM until we decide.

Mexico trusts our fellow partner Spain, and we all trust that our congress will decide for the best option for our countries. We maintain friendly conversations amd with the more active governments incoming we can expect no problems derived from the current agreement.

[Contest] A new horizon, a new look.

Finally, I have the honour to say that Mexico is opening a contest to the international community to make new graphs for the official MoFA newspaper.

To participate you only have to submit three designs, a header, a banner and a logo. All of them have to keep the same aesthetic style, and must be related to one (or more) of the next themes:
- Mexico
- MoFA
- Simplicity
- Modernity
- Art Deco

As this is an official contest, the winner will have 10K as prize, half of it paid by the Mexican Government and the other half paid by yours truly. Also, if we get donations the price could get higher!
So I beg you, please share this article with every graphic designer you know and if you feel like doing so, donate to make this contest a bigger one!

Sincerely yours,

Lalo292, MoFA of Mexico
