[MoCHE] Our Government!

Day 3,106, 18:41 Published in Japan Russia by shirosakura

I'm technically still the MoCHE, even if I haven't posted in months. It's not the title even matters at this point, but I'm going to use it to do some more educating while I can.

I originally posted this about 10 months ago, but I feel like it's probably something that needs to be said for a new generation of eJapanese players. Thanks to Silent Warrior and a couple of other key people over the year, I was able to put together a rough flowchart of how the operations of the current government works. Here's the key:

Red lines show the ascension of power (from Bottom to Top), and show who other people report to (essentially, their superiors)

Blue lines show the exertion of power (from Top to Bottom), and used to show who has some power over the other (from bosses to subordinates)

Green lines are lines of equivalency, and basically show when two positions are equals.

And, the dashed lines represent movements that might not exist under certain situations. For example, even though I'm the MoCHE, I don't have a seat on the council because I'm also a figure in the opposition movement. Situations like that may disrupt how power usually flows.

In general, the higher you go, the more powerful the group is. Keep in mind, this chart may not 100% reflect how things look on the ground, especially since the government is liable to change without public notice, but should be used as more of a reference.

This breaks down as follows:

- Governor: Handles the collection of taxes and oversees the Economic Markets

-Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Handles the creation of preservation of Mutual Protection Pacts (MPPs) with other country. Acts as an Envoy to Nebula.

- Ministry of Defense: Organizes daily orders for citizens; Acts as contact with Nebula Military Command.

- Ministry of Cultue, History and Education: Ensures the propagation of Japan’s cultural traditions and the education of citizens about eJapanese and IRL Japanese Traditions

- The Supreme Council: Brought forth and discussed major decisions. Approved or denied legislation

The roles themselves are fluid, and depending on workload and activity levels, they may pass from one department to another. But for the most part, this is how our government operates.

Also, since it was brought up, I around this time also proposed the Sakura Constitution, which would have created a Constitutional Dictatorship in place of our current system. It was designed to create a more open governing system, but ultimately failed due a general disinterest in implementing the plan and the culture of distrust that surrounds our politics. The Sakura Constitution is heavily modeled after the eBritish and eAmerican documents at the time, and looked like this:

Under this system, an electoral committee made up of the Top MUs and the Top 5 political parties would have either recommended a "shogun" for approval by the people or directly appointed a Shogun to the in-game position of Dictator through a nationally-supported change of power or coup.

Until next time!
