[MDP] The Path Followed and the Road Forward.

Day 1,881, 22:02 Published in Canada Canada by Muglack

Well Madams and Monsieurs it's been one hell of a ride.

The past two months for myself and the MDP have been tumultuous to say the least.

At our lowest point just shy of two months ago the MDP was on the verge of being removed from the top 5. My first action as Dictator was to break all ties with the coalition. While a positive step forward for eCanada as a whole, the cost to the MDP was much higher. Almost all of our members with a pricetag found that the surging SoA were more than willing to pay, and as a result our party membership plumeted.

As the deadline for Congress loomed it looked like a cointoss between us and Jacobi's PTO'ed "Forward Canada" party for who would get the the 5th spot on the ballot. Luck for the MDP we were able to hold on to the spot with some friends from other parties moving, and long time allies coming to our aid. To them I am grateful. In the first Congress election of the post-Coalition era the MDP was able to elect 6 congressmen. Not our best showing, but giving the circumstances we were happy with how we did.

The next election was for CP. My plan for my first month was to have the MDP hang back, assess the political landscape and plan for January. As it turns out, my plan didn't mean a thing. I decided to change things up and give MaryChan a shot I've thought she deserved for a long time. Without spending too much time crying overspilled milk let's just say that for a variety of RL reasons and an uncooperative electorate Mary wasn't able to get her medal. It's a shame, but what can you do but move on. So we did just that.

Despite my weak showing in the Congress election and my choice of CP candidate the Military Coucil saw fit to give me another month. I gladly accepted the challenge.

By this point membership problems were a thing of the past. Over the 30 days since taking control of the party our numbers rose slowaly, but steadily. We were the number 3 party and getting geared up for another congress election.10 days after being selected to be Dictator for a second month the MDP elected 8 Congressmen. Not a huge step forward but progress.

The most telling thing about our progress however, isn't the number of Congressmen we elected, but those that have seen the light and joined us since. As I write this article the MDP has 11 Congressmen (if you count Rylde who was elected but lost his title), only 2 less than the CPF who on election day tallied 6 more seats than us.

After the Congress election we shifted focus to the 5th and the next CP race. Rylde was back in full swing and wanted another shot at the big chair, so we gave it to him. This time eCanada got it right and MDP elected itself another President.

At this point things started to snowball. We were well established as the number 3 party and were slowly gaining ground on Clan Wolf. The gap was getting smaller, but not by leaps and bounds. Yet.

Then Lord Beorn happened.

The MDP is a different kind of animal. While other parties are hurt by negative attacks and scandal, the MDP thrives on it.

When Lord Beorn started sending PMs to all of the MDPs members attacking me and the party we gained members.

When I returned the favor, we gained members.

When they wrote articles about us and our "deceitful ways" we gained members.

When we wrote articles telling the truth about how awesome we are and how much we do for the country, we gained members.

The end result is that in the week since Rylde was elected President the MDP has jumped over 20 members and we're quickly closing in on the number 1 spot. While it's not our goal, and none of what we do is directed at getting the top party spot if the current trend continues there's a good chance that the MDP will be the top party in eCanada by the time the Congress ballot locks.

Less than 2 months ago we were on the verge of falling out of the top 5, sinxe then we've more than doubled our membership and are on the verge of retaking our spot as the number 1 party in Canada. To say the the resurgence I promised when elected the first time has been accomplished would be an understatement.

I first got back into politics and the MDP with the promise that I would reinvigorate a party that I saw crumbling. I would do everything I could to restore it to what it was, and what I knew I could make it again. Cleary that goal has been met. So there's only one thing left for me to do.

Step aside, and let someone else take up the cause and use the momentum we've built to take us to the next level. Because this game isn't a sprint, it's a relay race. And much like a relay race you're only as good as your next teammate.

But that's something I don't need to worry about, because I know the next Dicator has what it takes to keep us going.

Leo Balzac (Light of Palaero) has what it takes to keep the party moving forward. He has the knowledge, experience, and competancy to take what we've built over the last 2 months and use it to bring about real positive change in eCanada.

In my terms as Dictator I've made the MDP hungry. I've shed dead weight, and did what I could to turn it into a lean, mean, mutton eating machine. Now it's time for Light of Palaero to but some real hustle behind this political muscle.

He has my complete and utter endorsement, and I'm eager to see what the next 31 days will bring.

MDP - EVER FORWARD!
