[M2G] Recruitment Vs. Community

Day 2,364, 04:35 Published in USA USA by emdoublegee

Let me start off this article by introducing myself for those out there who don't know who I am. I've been playing this game for just over two years now, and I've had many titles over that time. I even currently have a few including Easy Company XO and the Recruitment Director for the American Military Party (AMP). But titles don't really mean a whole lot to me at this point, and can even detract from what is really important to me in this game.

For example, lets take my current position of "Recruitment Director" for AMP. This has a very cold sound to it, and generally what it boils down to within any party is numbers. "We're losing numbers so recruitment isn't doing it's job" or in rare cases these days "We're gaining in numbers so good job recruitment!". But that isn't what it's all about for me and really doesn't encompass my goal for this party or this position. I'm trying to give a face to new players again. Each and every player who joins is an individual with different ideas, skills, and desires for this game. That's important to me!

See? Even an elite AMPer like Israel Stevens gets Community is important!

The AMP has never really had a reputation for being friendly to new players. It's always been a place focused on the military module, and integrating soldiers into the political side of things. My goal is to change that perception. In the last month I've been developing some tools to help me with this within the "recruitment department". I am working on building a team that sees that a party is more than numbers, it’s about the individual members. eRepublik is a game friends, and everyone has different ways of playing. For me the best part of a game is the community. I don't have near as much fun playing RL games with strangers as I do with friends, and so I want to make this a place where you can build that community with us.

These days parties everywhere are struggling for "numbers". I won't go to the place where I knock everyone else down and say they're just looking for "warm bodies" to fill out their ranks because I know people from most of these parties and they're good people. At this point it honestly doesn't matter to me what party you're in, I just want to build that community aspect with you because the reality is parties aren't losing people because they're going elsewhere, parties are losing people because they just get tired of playing this game. I get it, I've been there. I've told my wife on a couple occasions that I was going to quit and not play anymore and she was elated!

But you can't beat a solid group of friends, and that's why I keep playing this. I've been in AMP since the day I joined this game and I don't think that will ever change. I've seen players come and go, and that is one reason I have friends in so many different parties. AMP may not be the right fit for you, but I challenge you to give it a try if you don't have that community feeling where you are now. You don't even have to join AMP in game, if you're interested in another friend or being a part of this community, hit me up personally. I always respond to PMs here, and you can always find me in #AMP (or #emdoublegee's if you don't like party channels) on the rizon server in IRC if you want to hang out. Hit me up, I would love to meet you and share in this experience.

To those of you who already know me and count me among your friends (there's no way I could list you all so I won't, but you all know who you are), thank you. Thank you for all that you've done to make this game an enjoyable experience for me. I challenge you to continue to share that with these new players that continue to join with us. With that, I will wrap this up. Thanks for your time, and I look forward to meeting you if I haven't already. Feel free to introduce yourself, just click the signature below and it will direct you to send a message to me. Have fun, and enjoy this community while it's here!
