[KHMC] My goodbye as the guard changes

Day 2,487, 06:43 Published in Australia Argentina by Nathan Aus

G'day KHMC and g'day Australia

This is my final post as the President of the KnightHawks Military Council. On the 15th the KH will go, as all parties across the eRep planet go, to elect the new Presidents of their political parties.

I'm leaving this term on a far different note to what I entered. I came on board following the loss of a beloved leader, one who was well supported both in and out of the KH family. Bree remains close in our minds and hearts.

To be honest with you all, I leave the post fully well knowing that I'm not the most popular bloke at the KH watering hole at the moment. We had a stagnant Congress election with miscalculations on regions to be contested, a rebuild following the loss of Bree and if that wasn't enough, a fracked Australian presidential nomination.

I tried my best, with the limited time I had left, to turn it around and try and find other ways to build the party's brownie points. All I can offer at the end of the day is a friendly relationship with the Revolutionary Party and two posts in the Australian Government. Not blowing my own horn at all, but those are two things KHMC didn't have when I came into the job.

The thing is, those are your victories, not mine. The President of the KHMC is just a custodian of a bigger picture. Another confession as the term comes to an end, I never fully understood the KH dynamic. I'm not going to have a leak on the doorstep as I depart, that's just un-Aussie, but there are issues there connecting the KHMC and the KH MU on the same page. I don't get it, so I'm not going to try to dissect it. It is relevant as far as uniting the front goes.

Now to my last point and I ask for forgiveness in advance because there's no way of addressing the truth without a few offences being taken. People should know that's not my go, but I can't help how other people might take it.

Limiting my remarks to the KHMC and not the MU, there's a few factional plays at work. One of those fires got put out in the interests of uniting to help Molly win and to be part of the team going forward. I thank Sally and Linc for their help to do that. Louise was also a big help and I understand the reasons why she resigned. In the end she came through for us as she always did, but I didn't disrespect her for her reasons either way. I admire people's convictions even if they don't work well for me.

There is a bit of infighting going on. Some might whinge about this, but I say let it happen. It's good to have a bit of civil war. If it's good for the country, it's good on local level for members of a political party to have a scrap. Do it as often as needed.

When it's over for that time, you have to bury it though and work on the common goal as it pops up. Could be anything. Captain elections, Congress, CP or a war campaign. Excuse my raw language, but the bottom line is shit has to quit to try for a win.

Looking out I say the KHMC is in a good place to do that if it wants to. If it doesn't, that's fine too. It will create a problem for membership viability and activity though if it doesn't stay active. Bree, Louise and Lany were a lot better at that than I was.

I promise the next President of the KHMC my respect and my silence. He or she will get no cheap shout outs from me. That's how I think it should be everywhere when the former leaves the limelight. They must allow a new chapter to begin.

I'll still be around of course serving Molly and Australia wherever I'm needed. Providing I get the support from governments now and in future I'd like to stay on. I'm really enjoying ministerial work and it's a good way to get along with everyone as the job requires.

My very best to all candidates for the job. It will be easy as hooking a snapper on stormy rocks to fill my shoes. I had a good Council and thanks to all of them. Lou, Lany, Sally, Linc, Cam and a hooroo to Henry over at the unit command.

On the 16th I go from Party President to plain member which is just swell with me. Thanks for your support to elect me and give me the privilege.

Casting off with a hearty cheers

Nathan
