G’day eAussies!

I am throwing my akubra into the ring and running for the eAustralian Prime Ministership.

I know I have only been active in eAustralian politics for a few months, but after two terms as Minister of Finance, and two terms as ADP Party President, I believe I have a good understanding of the strengths and challenges of eAustralia.

I will do my best to listen to all points of view and consider them on their merits. I know sometimes I can become rather verbose and vociferous in debate, but I will try to emphasise facilitation, inclusion, and cooperation, as I have tried to do as Minister of Finance, ADP president, and most recently as Senate chair. I will still form my own judgement, but I will always defer to democracy.

I hope it is difficult to deny my passion for eAustralia, as it’s also my home in real life perhaps the lines are a little blurred. I feel a strong sense of belonging in eAustralia, something I hope all eAustralians, past, present, and future, can share. The vibrant activity and passion of our community is regularly noted by others in the eWorld.

So, now that the pompous rhetoric is over, the policy I know you’re all eager to see.

Resource Wars.

This will be the main business for the next month. Discussions have already been underway in the Senate to decipher the information which staff have released so far, and attempt to solve any clues about elements which are not so clear.

The public poll on industry priorities will close in another day or so and results will be tallied. There are also senate discussions on how many industries to split our 7 potential resources between, the finer points of strategy, and airstrikes or wars with neighbours during the event.

All of these will go towards forming a Senate agreed strategy by the end of the current term. If I am elected I will abide by whatever is decided when the Resource Wars begin on day 1 of next term.

Defence.

Pat McCrotch, Past MoD and werewolf hunter extraordinaire has offered to serve as Minister of Defence.

His chief duty for the next month will be directing our movements, in conjunction with the countries the Senate chooses as battle partners, in order for each to obtain an ideal amount of domination points at the right time.

Immigration.

The Senate has voted 17 to 6 to enact the revised ASIO policy. I hope that the head of ASIO as approved by a majority of Party Presidents, Stojke, will distinguish himself in the job, and win the support of some who have voted against the bill. I plan to nominate him to the PP committee to continue to serve in the role as I believe he needs more than a few days to prove himself.

Foreign Relations.

I am currently in talks about potential MoFA candidates.

While we have many strong allies in Nebula, as well as in other alliances, and it is hoped that these close friendships will continue, it is felt by many Senators that Nebula as an organisation is no longer as active or effective as it once was, and so alternatives will be investigated and discussed at length, however, it is unlikely any changes will be proposed until after the conclusion of the Resource Wars.

Economics.

TAXSIRA has done an excellent job as MoF for the last two terms, however due to other commitments he will be unable to continue next term. I am currently seeking potential replacements. Even those who lack experience but are willing to be active in keeping the books, I’m more than willing to help them get their chits sorted.

For the most part, the Ministry of Finance will just be tallying the balance sheet next term. The big changes to the economy will come after the Resource Wars are over; in the term after. That will be the time for great action and reform in economy and tax settings.

The Joey Development Scheme will continue, and there has been talk of reviving the Tank Bank. The Boss Bucks loans were being considered for expansion into high level factories, but may need to be put on hold and then tweaked a little after the end of the Resistance Wars. There are important questions such as whether loans must be for eAustralian citizens to establish companies on eAustralian territory, or whether there might be more lenient terms. These will all be raised in the Senate when the time is right.

Governance.

Major law proposals will ideally be released as newspapers first wherever possible in order to focus debate, and take some of the load off the Senate thread, so it can focus more on sensitive matters such as ongoing discussions about global politics and military strategy.

I will also be looking into the idea of forming Departmental subcommittees, similar to the industry based ones which I ran as MoF. Any senators, and possibly even members of the public, especially stakeholders, would have an open invitation to join more intensive discussions with members of cabinet in key policy areas. Regular papers would be released detailing the results of these discussions. This would enable Senators to have more focus and input into areas they have the most interest in, and will also take some of the load off the main Senate thread, which would still have the final say on any proposals to come from the subcommittees.

I will encourage use of all forms of communication - Message threads, Newspapers, and Forums, although I realise some people have their preferences, so I will do my best to be inclusive and transparent. Security sensitive closed discussions will utilise both the forums and message threads. This way all should be included, and a permanent record can be easily kept of the key points.

Questions?

Any queries you might have about any of this are welcome. I will try my darndest to answer them fully.
