Some analysis, a tablespoon of opinion, and voila: a soup!

As always, Mood Musik, hope you enjoy it this time.

EDIT: RAINY HAS ANNOUNCED HER CAMPAIGN AND CABINET

"Banquo is buried. He cannot come out of his grave."

If you'll recall my last article was a fairly strong endorsement of rainy sunday, now I'd like the chance to do some analysis, and perhaps reiterate my point but in a slightly different context.  So, brave subscriber, bear with me:

The Future is sunday

sunday, rainy sunday

A wise individual once told me that "yesterday was Thursday, Thursday / Today i-is Friday / Tomorrow is Saturday."  I respectfully disagree.  To me, it's obvious that tomorrow is sunday.

Writing more seriously, the origin of rainy sunday's campaign has been, to me, nothing short of incredible.  One of the rare grassroots movements that we've experienced in this game. What started as a semi serious announcement for rainy from Aramec, spurred on by a flurry of endorsements, has become not simply a legitimate campaign, but a potential favorite.

Remember to poke air holes

From what appeared to be an uncontested race, sheer excitement and a blitzkrieg of media, a tightly contested election, and incredible long overdue candidate, have appeared.

Many, I imagine, were left somewhat in a state of shock.

Deepchill vs The Impenetrable Void of nothingness that is the human existence
Every time I link to Aramec's paper I'm fulfilling my sponsorship contract, obviously

It was not long ago that Aramec wrote an article decrying the preordained nature of elections in this country. Stating that Deepchill, though a deserving candidate, had been chosen to be our president.  That all we had left to do on the 5th was vote in line.  That there was to be no opposition, no suspense, no competition. After reading, I believe I wasn't alone in feeling somewhat disenchanted.

During the average month, we're told to suck it up.  And we generally do, we tell ourselves "eh he probably deserves it anyway" or "the game is dying, you can't expect real elections anymore", or we write vague platitudes, "I remember when this game was fun, we need to do something" left unfulfilled by our own apathy and lack of will. This month is different. This month, we have somewhere to channel our frustration.

This month we have rainy.

Enter the Media

Enter the Media: the lesser known sequel to Enter the Dragon, but instead of kung fu it's just Bruce Lee and a type writer

Where does a "grassroots" campaign start?  How do you trace the genesis of a feeling? an impulse? an uprising?  You can't, but in a game like eRepublik, you can at least find a paper trail, and construct a sequence of events that helps to explain what happened.

And, what makes this campaign special to me, is where it truly began.  Where the public's imagination was captured, where this campaign took root, where the incredible support rainy has garnered over years of dedicated play manifested itself for everyone to see. It started in the media.

Also vote this article. That would also be cool.

As evidence, and as a cataloguing of an event unlikely to be replicated, I'm going to post a timeline of the myriad of endorsements and announcements that rainy's campaign merited, entirely spontaneously. Attacking a media so dead that it took 21 votes to breach the top 5, a media so dead 4 days before the Presidential elections that the frontrunning candidate hadn't published in a week, and the only other paper concerning the election was a quasi-endorsement quasi-ezc-propaganda-anti-Pfeiffer tirade from Franklin Stone.  Then: lightning in a bottle.

As well as yielding this gem,

Top 5 says: get on rainy's level

Recently Deepchill's media team has attempted a somewhat frenzied response. Deepchill and a few of his cabinet members and supporters have put out articles. That in itself has made this campaign a success in my eyes, forcing a frontrunner's media team out of apathy, and reinvigorating the election.  Once you win, you can do most everything behind closed doors, but elections are one of the few times when the media can actually make a difference, and it's good for people to be reminded of that once in a while.

Still, the level of public support rainy has received has been unparalleled.  I suppose it's natural that many would try to oppose anything so sudden, so dangerous to imagined balances of power, I would kindly remind anyone who comes to the comment section to spout anything about 200 days that their candidate's announcement came similarly after a nearly 100 day drought of publishing, but something rare and magnificent has occurred.  The people have spoken.  Not just through a silent majority, but through publishing, through shouting.  We, the masses, usually content to 2 click while the game and elected officials revolve around us, have finally made some noise.

The Future is sunday

This is more applause than my writing will ever receive

Despite the hypocritical ramblings of a certain character, who if we're lucky, will be spotted in his natural habitat, the comments section, rainy has not only entered the race legally but has obtained significant support from traditional parties.

Entering too late for the WTP ballot, WTP literally voted to support no candidate rather than support anyone against rainy.

She won the AMP primary unopposed.

Repeat, this is not a drill

The USWP, Deepchill's own party, had an incredibly close primary where rainy lost by only a handful of votes.  The Feds poll, unfortunately early, had already received its last votes before rainy even announced.

What I'm saying is it's going to precipitate.  Rain will be falling out of the sky is what I'm saying. Like rainy.  On the 5th.  What I'm saying is it's going to rain.

So? What now?

Now that we, the eMerikan public, have created something, how will we respond?  Now that rainy is running, now that rainy is on the ballot, now that so many of us have put our time, money, and dreams into making this a reality, what are we going to do?

Because after all, it's not some boogeyman in our closet who really decides these things, we do.

So, in spite of the terrible track record of all of my variations of pleas, appeals and requests, I end this article entreating you: do not fail what we have created.  Do not fail to support a candidate who, loosely borrowing words from a better writer, is so beyond deserving the presidency that we do not begin to deserve her.  Do not fail to show that your voice matters, but most of all:

Do not fail to elect rainy sunday.

In business news, umbrella sales are forecasted to skyrocket
