FightAndProduce In Congress - Representing ESO - Opposing the Blacklist Bill

I like a bit of metagame in eRepublik, it enriches the experience for me. Royal titles? I love them (I wonder why) But there is one part of the metagame we have at the moment which tries not to be useless but just is, and that is when I oppose it. I was recently elected to congress (Thanks ESO/TUP) and the congress message has been up for a few hours now (At least for those of us on Addaway's friend list) one of the first things posted in the message (Apart from saying hi to each other and faffing about) was this.

Blacklisting people is pretty much useless due to several things. The first being that if relies entirely upon the people of the eUK to fulfil it. If the people of the eUK do not wish to fulfil it, blacklisting a person will do nothing. No matter how many times the eUK congress wish to do it. Basically, if I managed to get a blacklist proposal through on a popular [insert party here] member, as long as that party stuck by that person they could still get into congress, still be a CP candidate and still be a PP.

As well as this, even if everyone did suddenly goes with this person being blacklisted. They're still in the country, a blacklist is only actually objectively good at keeping people if they are outside the country, and boy if someone who is really disliked enough to be on a blacklist leaves the country and expects to come back when there's a dictator in control? Boy are they stupid. The bill says that when blacklisted a citizen can no longer be a citizen, a congress member or a member of the government. ('Players on the UK Blacklist are not allowed to be a part of the UK government, are not allowed to be in the UK congress, and are not allowed to be UK citizens.') None of these things can be upheld except for eUK citizenship, but as mentioned above you can only do that once they've left the country.

Before I get to my conclusion. People who are dangerous to the eUK are known already, we don't need a blacklist to tell us who we shouldn't affiliate with. This just insults our intelligence. New people can see pretty quickly once they get involved why these people aren't held in high regard, and if they don't? Chances are they aren't going to some gdoc to check out the list. Dapper in particular doesn't need to be on a blacklist, if there was some actual purpose and actions which could be effectively taken I would be fine with it. But there isn't.

Basically, Dapper is pretty much a joke. A blacklist just gives him legitimacy (albeit a very small amount of it)

Conclusion

The blacklist bill needs to be either reformed (which I don't believe will make much of a difference) or you relegate this bill to the bin of rubbish eUK bills (which I'm sure there are a load of)

In the end, this is a matter which needs more than just my viewpoint. During the writing of this article the matter has popped up in the congress message. So it may already be in motion. But do you agree with my points? Or do you take issue with them? Let me know, it may help your representatives find out their parties view on the matter. If you liked the article please vote for it and maybe subscribe, and as always.
