[Fed] PP Address : On my way out

Hellooooo Feds!

Well the PP nominations are open which means this term is coming to a close. I want to thank you for such a good month. It was very interesting leading the party again. The last time I was PP of the Feds, we were still a little 6th party, developing programs and trying to carve out a place in this game for our rag tag crew of idealists. Now we're a gigantic party, keeping programs running and still trying to defend our ideals and break our members into positions of influence.

I find it interesting. People in small parties or no party at all think that we're hardcore elitists and sell outs. Meanwhile those who actually hold power in our government (and have for a super long time) still bash us for being silly idealists and disregard us. Some things never change, I suppose, and The Feds still find themselves being something of an island in the eUS. There is no other party like ours, and even though many of them are finally starting to take note of elements that have made us successful and they're making attempts to replicate our initiatives, we have unique qualities that cannot be duplicated.

Now, while anyone who is a member of the party would consider us 'wildly successful,' the real test of this comes with what you DO with what you have. We have the numbers. We have the activity. We're clearly in the 'out-group' to most people (whether it's because we're trrbl elitsts or a bunch of goofballs), but we know the future of this game is in the Federalist Party. So, what are we going to do about it? This was our challenge for the last term and it will remain our challenge moving forward.

In Vanek's second term he seems to have warmed up to the idea of having Feds around as we now have a 8 members serving in various roles in the Cabinet (compare to the 2 or 3 of the last term). Our resident geezer, Tiacha, is fulfilling one of her personal goals by serving as Speaker of the House and as an added bonus, we currently hold more Congressional seats than we EVER have before. Things are progressing nicely, but we still face some serious challenges.

We recently started a Cabinet exercise in the party to get our future leaders really thinking about what LEADING entails. The hardest part of leading is always putting together a strong cabinet that can get things done, work well together and make the public happy. As expected, more people have opted to play around with a Party cabinet. That's easy. We have so many great members who are really agile in their capabilities, it's hard to put together a 'bad' cabinet on the party level. That option has become more about what you see in these players and how you view the role of leadership. It's been very enlightening, even if it isn't terribly challenging.

On the national level, however, very few people have even made the attempt to fantasize about a CP cabinet. The most common comment is that they don't know of very many active, hard workers in other parties and know you can't just stack the deck with your own party members. I've spoken with the Interior Dept about this and brought it up to my fellow Party Presidents. If this is a problem for us, certainly it's a problem for them, too. If we're ever going to see different faces in the White House, we have an obligation to make our best and brightest aware of each other and working together in various capacities.

I'll be working on this going forward, even as I step down as Party President. It has to happen. We have to start shining a brighter light on what's next, not just in our own parties, but in the eUS. No one even WANTS to run for President these days because of how negative our society has become. While we all complain about how badly we want change, we do nothing to actually bring it about. If anything, we make it even harder because 80% of the people DESPISE the President, no matter who it is or what they do. Who would want to put themselves through that? So the people who are used to being hated just stay there forever, playing musical chairs. How long can that really go on?

As long as we do nothing to change it.



The loss of Easy Company was certainly a curveball to start the term, but I was determined to turn it into a positive thing for the party. And really, it was a blessing in disguise. It gave us the opportunity to revisit the concept of a party MU and get back in touch with the real purpose of it. It also gives our newer members the opportunity to be on the ground floor of the next big successful initiative coming out of the Feds. Such an opportunity hasn't come along in years, so it's been exciting to get everyone involved and see how they really take the reins and make this something they can be proud of.

I have already announced that our new MU will be launching at the start of the next term and we're on track to make that happen. I'm very excited about how things have been progressing and I'm very proud of all of our members who are helping to make this happen.



Party meeting Wednesday at 19:00erep time!

This will be a wrap up meeting for the term. It will really be a set up for the debates that should be happening on Fed Radio Thursday, as well. We have some GREAT candidates so far and I really think this decision will be less about who we like and more about what we want to see for the party next month. Of course these are beloved party members who have all been a part of leadership in some capacity, but they are very different leaders with different strengths and different priorities. It is not a bad thing to focus on those differences when trying to determine who should lead the Feds!
