[Elite] Lets Interview Our Candidates

Day 3,056, 05:02 Published in Ireland Ireland by Elite C

Hey Ireland!

This article contains responses from CP candidates to questions I asked them recently. Sluagh., Cat Boyd and Rikian were the only respondants unfortunately. But none the less their responses make for very good reading.

Answers posted in order of response

1. Tell us a bit about your time in eRepublik.

Slugh.
I have been playing eRepublik for potentially 6 years now and over that time I've developed friendships and rivalries with players from all over the world. I've worked the smallest of jobs such as supplying 50 soldiers a day when I was a regiment captain in the Irish Army and have worked some of the biggest jobs such as being Irish CP 2 or 3 times as well as being Military Commander of Aurora and now currently being the MC of PLUTO. I've thoroughly enjoyed my experience on this game and will not lie, there has been several times I've wanted to quit but I've invested so much time into the game as well as the friendships I've made - I couldn't walk away.

Cat Boyd
I have been on eRepublik since September of last year. I have been in eIreland that entire time. I have gotten to know a few people on here really well. I have found the last few months a bit dull so it's nice to see things are picking up.

Rikian
Well, I joined eRepublik in May of 2012. I joined the IFP immediately since Ronisu was the person who invited me to join. I've been involved ever since. I was the commander of Boot Camp for a time, the MoI for a time, and eventually the CP. I've got the experience to lead and I plan to do so.

2.Why are you choosing to run this month and what do you hope to accomplish in these elections?

Sluagh.
I've decided to run this month as I feel Ireland needs a strong leader who is willing to put in the effort to restore her to former glory. We've suffered at the hands of politics the past few months and there is nothing to show that system is what is best for our nation. I am running on a platform alternative to what we've seen before and I'm hoping that the electorate truly get on board and support genuine change.
My main aim of this election is to highlight to Ireland the errors being made and that there is an alternative solution.

Cat Boyd
I am running this month because it is critical that we radically change eIrish society by striking at the heart of its politics. Our occupation has damaged our country and it will require a lot of work to rebuild it. I am running on a platform that seeks to revitalize the social life of eIreland - I want more activity, more projects, more fun. I want to get new citizens in eIreland, inspire old citizens to become active again, and to see an eIrish Renaissance. I hope to fully liberate our island from foreign occupation but also of its inefficient political core - we need a new kind of politics.

Rikian
I'm choosing this month to run because I believe we're in danger of losing who we are. I fear that if we don't get a solid constitution in place and secure congress, we'll not make it as a country. We are so much better than what the other candidates want. I want to make sure we're as good as we could be.

3.Why are you the best person for President?

Sluagh.
I have a proven track record in matters of defence, foreign affairs and leadership. In my previous terms as President, it is undeniable that work was done and the nation witnessed succes. As President I secured us optimal resource bonuses, implemented a new tax system and privately funded National Strikes. As Minister of Defence I oversaw our liberation against several enemies such as Argentina, China and Moldova. As Minister of Foreign Affairs I've built strong relations with countries such as Macedonia, Italy and South Korea. I'm a strong leader and in my opinion - the #1 candidate.

Cat Boyd
It is hard to call myself the best when I am going up against a fine set of knowledgeable, skilled, and dedicated players. I don't care about being perceived as the best, what I do care about is that people know that I am willing and dedicated towards freeing eIreland. I am the only candidate who follows a very thorough ideology which will guide my actions. Anyone who understands Banism will understand exactly what I am aiming to accomplish. So - you at least know my principles.

Rikian
I have experience, good relations with most players, and I think I am the best person to get things done. When the going gets tough, I'll be here. I've never left eIreland and I won't. This is my home and I intend to make it great!

4.How would you summarize your plan for governing the nation in April And What will be your priority?

Sluagh.
I will be governing with complete authority. I do not wish to work under the red tape of a Constitution or with a congress breathing down my back. I want to make the country great - not argue and be delayed about conflicting opinions. My priority will be funding the nations military. I wish to utilize the Treasury and invest 600,000 into the military as well as the broader society

Cat Boyd
To be quite honest my priority will be on the social transformation of eIreland. This will include the abolition of the Congress and Constitution. It will be a term full of Community Articles, projects, and laying the foundations for the political restructuring of our island. I hope to invest a lot of time in establishing the Dublin Commune as the new basis of democracy in eIreland which will be more powerful than the Country President or Dictator for that matter. The only priority equaling to that would be liberating our island from eLithuania. I have employed a top notch military leader to guide us in that direction who is also running for CP.

Rikian
Keeping congress active, focusing on an alliance, community events, and finishing the constitution. All of these are important so they're all the priority.

5.The population of eIreland is currently low when compared to the rest of the world. How will you as CP help in encouraging immigration to Ireland and how will you help in stopping the emigration.

Sluagh.
With such a large investment into society, it works out at around 6000cc/per capita pumped into society. With this I hope to encourage foreign fighters to come to eIreland as the nation will be putting them at the forefront of the system. For the same reason I think we will curb emigration. We play a military game, so lets build a functioning military.

Cat Boyd
This is a critical issue for our island that is due to many things - the occupation being one of them. To counter the emigration out of eIreland we need to invest in the social development of our nation. By this I mean it will require players to engage with our community whether through writing articles, commenting on articles, and creating spaces for the public to come together and interact. We need to enrich our social experience on eRepublik. This is a social game, but we often think of it as a purely military one with a pathetic political module. By investing in enriching our community we will conversely see a decrease in emigration and an increase in immigration. I plan on rewarding people for their recruitment efforts, each successful recruitment will be met with monetary reward, and we will follow up on new players and make sure they understand the game. We need to invest more time in nurturing the growth of young players and reaching out to disengaged players.

Rikian
We have to work on community events to keep players engaged and active. We also have to offer incentives for people to immigrate to eIre. We're a great country and we need to show everyone that's the case. We should have a budget to publish our articles in other countries to show how great eIre is and can be.

6.The current government has come under criticism recently for their lack of interaction with the Irish people on important issues. How will you address this issue if elected?

Sluagh.
By actually informing the public of matters that aren't entirely confidential. I've always been a good communicator and have in the past set up Mass Messaging Threads which saw every eIrish citizen receive orders and updates straight to their inbox. An informed nation is an organised one and if all of our fighters know where to show up, our international status will become more recognized and satisfaction among our own citizens will be higher. Informing the people is best for everyone.

As a strong critic of the current administration, I do not wish to make the same errors that I've been critical of.

Cat Boyd
Since I will effectively be a Dictator; to counter this I will establish the Dublin Commune which will actually be the institution that decides where our island is going. I am giving the players more say and more power to decide where we go. I also plan on holding weekly public opinion polls, weekly financial updates, and offer referendums on many issues affecting our nation - and I will honor the democratic decision of the people. Community involvement will be the cornerstone of my presidency.

Rikian
I think there is a time for some secrecy, but whenever possible transparency is best. I plan to publish regular articles to address the people to keep them updated as well as informed.

7. What considerations have you made for cabinet positions? How will you be using your cabinet if you are elected?

Sluagh.
I'm yet to finalize my cabinet but I've had a great team of members in Eire Aonair backing me and my campaign this whole time. I've asked them if they have interest and if so which role they be interested in. A lot of them will be new in their respective roles so I will provide them with plenty of guidance. My Minister of Defence and Finance will be key to our success so I'm still looking at some options here but they will no doubt be my right-hand wo/men.

Cat Boyd
I plan on having a small cabinet. Really we need about 4-5 people to administer, the rest given to the Commune. I have spoken to another CP candidate on being my Supreme Commander of Military Affairs; they have agreed. I plan on including a National Bank Executive (Minister of Finance), a Minister of Community, and a Prime Minister (Minister of Foreign Affairs).

Rikian
I am currently working on cabinet positions. These decisions aren't to be taken lightly. I will be using my cabinet to work for the greater good of eIre and to distribute the workload so that we can accomplish more this term.

8. What are your thoughts on the relationship between the government and eIreland’s MUs? How would you coordinate with the many MUs?

Sluagh.
I'll be looking into condensing much of our fighters into one MU to narrow down the spread of our damage. This will also hopefully reach the criteria to join the new alliance Adriatica, should that become an option. Otherwise, MU Commanders will be mailed daily what the priorities are.

Cat Boyd
I am aware of that. I have a lot of faith in my chosen Supreme Commander as he has already outlined a comprehensive liberation plan.

Rikian
Honesly, we're going to have to decrease the number of MU's in existance. I hope to offer a buyback on some of them to integrate them into Irish Army.

9. What will this last term be remembered for?

Sluagh.
The last term will be remembered for inefficiency. There's been a total lack of communication from all governmental departments (exception of MoD) and the population has been left out in the cold.

Cat Boyd
Perhaps this last term will be remembered for the most is its final days. This may be the end of the ILP's rule of eIreland for a while as many have become disillusioned with the party and I've noticed a continual drop in their membership. I do not wish ill on my center-left comrades, I wish them the best, but they need to be severely critiqued and I implore the ILP start developing an ideological base so they can keep their party members accountable and have specific goals. What will be remembered is that, out of the blue, WHS played some part in getting a bunch of our allies to finally come to our aid - something that was long overdue.

Rikian
Trying to help eIre during a troubling time.

10. What will your term be remembered for?

Sluagh.
My term will be remembered as the one that restored eIreland. We will have seen nothing remotely like it for years and that is something I personally find exciting. It will be a term that will be remembered for proving to the eIrish that dictatorships can work so long as we have the right leader.

It will be the term that ends the Long Winter that has plagued eIreland for months. I will bring freshness and new life through Spring with the hope of providing the sunshine of Summer further down the line.

Cat Boyd
My term will be remembered for the Dublin Commune and kicking off the eIrish Renaissance. The Dublin Commune will be the revolutionary foundation on which the new eIrish order will rise from. No experiment will have ever come this close to establishing a radical democratic institution which can overpower that of the CP, Congress, and Dictator. The eIrish Renaissance, not entirely masterminded by the Revolutionary Banist Party, will bring about a level of player activity and community engagement like never before seen in eIreland. The Renaissance won't be political in nature, but social. Establishing a Banist Dictatorship will allow such Renaissance to realize its full potential and eIrish society will reap the many benefits which it has lacked in recent years.

Rikian
Improving the nation for everyone.

I want to thank the respondants for their answers and wish them the best of luck in the election.
