[eCan-Eire] A Love Story!

Day 2,549, 09:33 Published in Ireland Canada by DMV3

This is an article I have wanted to write for a couple of months, but I have put it off due to being involved in either government or other projects that would have made this article unseemly. So today I write this article as an eCanadian citizen. For a long time Ireland and Canada have been close friends. We have seen many Irish come to Canada and many Canadians go to Ireland. We have been close allies and when we ended up in opposite alliances we saw many of our people fight for the other despite the fact we were under attack by alliance members. This article isn't about that relationship, but rather about a possible future for our people. I would attempt to stick to facts and avoid a sentimental argument because I believe the facts offer more than enough insight into the future.

We are seeing a steady decline in this game. We have seen many active players leave, and before all is said and done we may lose many more. This has less to do with us as communities as it does with players becoming bored, disenfranchised, and uninterested in spending time in a game that becomes more pay to play by the day. We can't change this, but we can attempt to change the way we play this game in order to make it more interesting for all of us. eCanada and Eire both have small active, but still viable communities. These communities are our greatest chance at not only putting off our decline, but actually seeing growth.

We have a great chance at not only slowing our eventual decline, but to change the course of the game for our communities. This chance is the next logical step in our relationship, a merger of our two small nations into a regional power.

Damage

Last Week
Canada 26,180,713,745 (17)
Ireland 4,350,619,369 (53)
Combined 30,531,333,114 (15)

Canada 27,528,684,382 (25)
Ireland 7,874,654,193 (49)
Combined 35,404,338,575 (20)

3 Weeks Ago (Epic Warfare Tournament)
Canada 85,529,708,166 (25)
Ireland 22,197,945,880 (54)
Combined 107,727,654,046 (21)

As you can see our combined damage would make us more competitive and it would give us an the ability to hold our own for defense against any bordering nation except for the US. This would increase our already considerable Foreign Affairs influence and give us the ability to negotiate for additional resources to improve our economic output.

Economic Bonuses and Tax Revenue

Food Bonuses
Grain-None
Fish-Nova Scotia (C), Newfoundland and Labrador (C), Nunavut (C), Northwest Territory (C)
Cattle-New Brunswick (C), Saskatchewan (C), Mayo (I)
Deer-British Columbia (C), Prince Edward Island (C)
Fruit-Shannon(I)

Weapons Bonuses
Iron-Quebec (C), Dublin (I)
Saltpeter-None
Aluminum-Ontario (C)
Oil-None
Rubber-None

Housing Bonuses
Sand-Wexford (I)
Clay-Yukon (C), Louth (I)
Wood-Cork (I)
Limestone-None
Granite-Manitoba (C)

As you can see combined we would increase our Food and Housing resource bonuses to 80 percent. While we would see no gain in Weapons resources bonuses, but with some of our resources redundancies I believe we would be able to find opportunities for swapping resource bonuses with other nations to increase our output.

Tax revenue is another area where we would see additional benefit in a merger. With the Work Tax at 3% I project tax revenue of 8,000 cc per day, at 4% 10,500 cc per day, and at 5% (Canada's current tax rate) 13,000 cc per day.

While I can easily see other benefits to a potential merger, I believe these benefits make the case most clearly. Most arguments regarding increased activity and community benefits are anecdotal at best. This idea is merely my opinion of what our two nations can do to increase our game playing value. I understand there would be obvious pitfalls and obstacles to a merger, but I mostly wanted to share this idea and begin a public debate on the issue.

I'm not sure this idea would be backed by either government, but I want to start a conversation to see what the people of each nation think. I have ideas regarding implementation of a merger, but I will save those ideas for a future article if this idea is well received and embraced by our respective communities.

Hail brotherhood!
Hail Eire!
Hail Canada!
Hail The Irish Canadian State?
