[DMJ] On Patriotism

Day 2,487, 06:50 Published in USA USA by dmjohnston

I find the events of today incredibly offensive.

Mood Music: Time to defend our land, eAmerica

It’s a little sad to think that my children will not grow up remembering what happened on this day 13 years ago. One day a few years from now, I’ll sit them down and explain to them the origin of Patriot’s Day. I’ll explain to them why our nation spends a day in remembrance of those who were lost and those who fought against terrorism. I’ll explain to them why their father served our nation to fulfill his own perceived duty as a citizen of the United States.

But for the people old enough to play this game, we do remember. I vividly remember each moment of that day. The emotions. The sadness. The horror. The heroism. In the days, weeks, and years that have followed, our nation has healed, together, as we moved past the tragic events of September the 11th, 2001, were 2,977 victims lost their lives at the hands of men who sought to destroy our nation, our way of life, and our freedom.

Of all days. Of the 365 days of the year, our enemies in an Internet game have chosen to attack us on this day. This day that symbolizes loss, hope, and recovery. Statements were made that this attack is not related to our tragedy, but rather the birthday of an in game MU. Why then does the first strike occur in New York? eAmerica, we will not falter and we will not fail. If our enemies think this “joke” or “nod” to that day is an appropriate way to deal with our nation and with the citizens of our nation, they are gravely mistaken.

Rise up, eAmerica. Defend our lands, defend our ideals. Be the nation we can be and the nation we are. Show these play enemies that we do not appreciate their approach to what should be a fun game.

Dio bless you, and Dio bless the eUnited States of America.
