[Director of Directorate of Direction] Vote on your National Goal & Turner Prize Artwork (Repost)

Day 2,685, 04:27 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Mr Woldy

Citizens!

This article will seem familiar too you. It was erased from existence by Plato because of 'flaming', which I can only interpret as a criticism of its slightly camp writing style. I can't say I'm sure which bit is flamey (apart from one of the paintings) but I've censored out the only slightly rude word I can see to hope it placates them!

Over the past few days you have been suggesting ‘Common goals’ for the eUK. Some sort of ambition or aim for us to work towards to try and encourage our sense of community and fun.

There’s been a range of responses to my survey and everyone who participated gets a big thank you. There were a lot of suggestions; in order to narrow them down I have focussed on the specific event based goals rather than more general ones; and I have collated the goals which appeared the most. By doing so I have narrowed the list down to the six best/most common suggestions.

They are as follows:

To conquer Ireland
To conquer the USA
To conquer France (specifically, for the banter)
To conquer Australia
To reinstate democracy
To Install Rob the Bruce as dictator

The next step is for you, the public to vote on your favourite!

The voting will take place on this doc and shall last approximately a week. After which the winner shall be announced and rewarded with a Harem.

If you’re worried that you can’t choose between ⅔ options, I have allowed you to rank your options by preference. Because I’m nice.

We can then start shouting at everyone who matters about enacting our goal and we can see how far we succeed. I can practically smell the enthusiasm coming out of your rapidly clicking fingers and into the interwebs.

Reflections on the state of the nation

Also included in the poll circulated earlier this week was two questions on the eUK; what makes it entertaining and why has it entered a period of stagnation?

As to why it’s entertaining; which I have rephrased as ‘WHY DO WE KEEP COMING BACK??’, there was four broad options to choose from, as well as an ‘other’. The results are as follows in this pie:

MS Excel 2014 STUDent edition.

The second question was why have we hit a bit of a slump. It was nice to see a few people arguing that we weren’t in a period of stagnation, but I have compiled a few of the more colourful responses (and struck out the rude ones) for some discussion points!

'A lack of clear direction.'
'Inactivity, we've achieved quite a few goals and now people have no direction. CPs are not doing anything or changing things up. Even our dictator hasn't altered the eUK that much.'
'I don't even know what "stagnant" means sorry. However, I have a feeling it's because Max Blue isn't our dictator!'
'Boring, needs some fun, politicians should be able to actually do stuff when elected, rather than just twiddle their thumbs.'
'Because of a dictator that no one choose or wants, because of a government that doesn't do anything because of the above and because there are like no wars.'
'Because a lot of the people involved in the running of it are rude arrogant tw*ts.'
'Many of the really excellent and interesting players are in hibernation.'
'Added to this all newer players are either 12, Dapper or cardboard.'
'Stagnant? well a little bit. half of it is caused by admins(plato). The best we can do is to make some competitions which can create some fun and tension.'
'A small bunch of people think this game is just for them. And unfortunately they aren't close to being as funny as they think they are.' [Wold - YES I AM].
'Alliances.'
'Darwinism.'

Take from that what you will! There’s seems to be pattern in that the game is perceived as being poor due to mechanics, yet people come back for the community (even though we aren’t half as funny as we tell each other we are). Apart from that the responses range from anti-politician, anti-dictator, anti-plato, anti-everyone, but oddly no one blamed Jamesw in this segment. Feel free to discuss.
