[CP update] The first 100 hours

Day 3,003, 00:28 Published in Australia Canada by Ilene Dover

Happy Tuesday! It seems the trend in real world politics to give a 100-day programme. So, after about 100 hours (that feel like 100 days) in this game it must be time for an update, right?

I can hear the first question already. Why are you not using the CP newspaper?

The short answer to a long problem is that the login details on file for some of our orgs are wrong. This is also the case for the DoD org, which is why WachaGonnaDu is publishing battle orders from his personal newspaper.

The process of resetting the login details has already started and will hopefully be resolved soon.

Military unit buyback

The MU buyback scheme has had some success. Two MUs have been acquired for a total cost of 16k CC. That's two less MUs we have to watch and fret over for an MTO.

For any unit commander out there who has had enough and wants to leave, please get in touch. Don't leave your unit to the vultures.

Nebula and training wars update

Our training war with South Africa is still rolling on. If the battles are too slow for you, I apologise. It's slow because things are a little complicated. South Africa are running a concurrent training war with Japan - we are coordinating so as to make it fun for all three nations.

Speaking of Japan, the observant (or news junkies) amongst you will have noticed Japan's core regions are under attack from both Spain (via an Airstrike on Day 3000) and Taiwan. After speaking with the Japanese, the Taiwan battles are related to determination resets and are therefore no concern of ours.

The Spanish invasion on the other hand... Japan has not invited Nebula members to collectively help in their defence. Nebula (before today) had not offered any assistance either. We (as eAussies) are a long standing friend and ally of Japan, and it pains me to see them being wiped from their core regions. If enough people here ask, we can suspend our training war and go to their assistance. Any takers?

The Boss Bucks program

Yep, we gave the company loans program a tacky name - that means it's close. Congress should expect to see a draft in a day or so. Depending on the arguments that follow, the first round should be live by the weekend.

The core of the program is that Treasury will loan you gold to build Fisheries or Aluminium Mines (Q3 FRM and WRM respectively). Then you pay 1 gold/month for every 10 gold borrowed over 10 months. We have chosen these companies because they make a reasonable profit for our bonuses, need almost no effort to run, and fill a need in our markets.

The new millenium project

As flagged in my earlier article, we need an open debate on what sort of government we want to have. Two other voices have joined in so far. There is room for as many as have an opinion and a newspaper. That is, all of us.

Should we have a democracy? It's biggest problem is the risk of an MTO. It's biggest benefit is that nothing can really happen without discussion, negotiation and compromise. That means activity and media, which keeps us all interested.

Should we have a constituional dictatorship? Or a constitutional monarchy, as a few people have asked for it to be called. It removes the MTO risk, but causes a different set of problems and passes responsibilities that rest with all of congress to one player.

Or should we have a presidential dictatorship? Nobody has taken up the cause for the Country President as dictator yet, and I really hope it's not just because of me... This is what we had for the second half of 2015. The MTO risk is also eliminated, with a new set of problems arising.

There will be a summary and vote soon enough. This is only going to work if you express yourself. There are no wrong answers or opinions. There are no right answers or opinions. Ask as many questions in the comments that you can think of.

Finally, for your amusement...

And some wonder why a CP takes a little while to respond sometimes...
