[Chaz4CP] I'm still running y'know!

Day 2,567, 15:12 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by CptChazbeard

So it turns out one of my opponents isn't quite as dead as I'd assumed...

Holy sh*t jamesw is still alive?!?!

...which means I've had to pop back into the Spamicans to recruit an expert on the undead to be my running mate...

Remember folks, Christmas is fast approaching so Horice will be back in the land of the eLiving soon. \o/

It also means I should be serious for a moment. The most frequent criticism I've come across is that I'm a lulzy player, so please allow me a moment to express my thoughts.

If I were elected CP there are three main areas I wish to focus upon.

Since the breakdown of Sirius we find ourselves without a home but there is no need to jump into bed with the first chappy that comes along.
We have been the butt of many jokes over the years, mainly pertaining to our role as 'Junior' to Papa Poland; seemingly as though we're the only nation to ever ask for help from a larger nation.

The thing is; although players, including our own, may mock us we're actually good allies to have. In terms of damage we're a decent mid-tier side that has been loitering around the #20 mark for some time now.
We've been engaged in war for what seems like an eternity but have seldom had direct involvement from our allies, being less of a drain on them than other nations would have been.

Our damage has been well co-ordinated too. Even when the UK has been in direct conflict our priorities have gone to allies that have needed it most. We gave the likes of Poland and Turkey priority when they were in close fought battles with Serbia and China, however if they were winning our attentions were on allies like Lithuania and Estonia who have been in ongoing battles against Sweden and Finland.

After our withdrawal from Scandinavia under WookieO the Coward (jks) we immediately threw ourselves back into conflict to aid Ireland. Despite fraught relations with them over time we jumped in to help a pro-Sirius side without hesitation.
Indeed, the war in which we still find ourselves today started in aid of an ally. It was a borderline suicide mission from the off but we bloody well went in.

Lest we forget that this came after St. Wayne the Magnificent valiantly fended off a 6 pronged attack. After which many nations will have opted to rest for some time.

If we continue in such a vane then we're far more valuable than a nation of similar size but who p*sses their damage up the wall where not needed.

The point I'm trying to make is that we should hold our heads high after all of this and certainly not sell ourselves short.

Our position on the eWorld stage will of course be the top priority throughout my term; it isn't however something we should rush into. A breakdown in alliances usually means a shift in geopolitics, we could charge head first into an alliance only to find that it too breaks down in three weeks time or we've trod on the toes of someone we may turn back to.

For now I want us to get talking to others, find out what direction they're heading in and ensure we're not left behind. Whilst this goes on we continue to fight for our friends and allies from recent times.

It's essential we know our arse from our elbow and that players are given a voice and made to feel included.

I will use the usual set of chain mails with cabinet and congress (after the next election ofc). The MoD will also have open messages for Commanders and Second Commanders for use of orders.

Aside from this I will utilise sequential chain mails where messages can be relayed from government to the great unwashed and vice versa.
To do this I will have a mail open including Party Presidents and one including commanders set aside for discussion rather than orders. I will ask that PPs and Commanders/2nd Commanders subsequently open a forum for debate – be it via mass mail, IRC, forums – to include players who wish to participate in discussions. Being realistic; with current players numbers I can't see there being much call for more than one mail per group.

The reasoning for doing this are quite simple. In lieu of congress it gives players a chance to get their voices heard on important matters.

It hands a degree of power to Party Presidents and Commanders. Rather than just being the guys that select congress lists and Daily Orders; PPs and Commanders will now be representatives of their parties and MUs within the sphere of government.

Community building. Get players talking and they may soon find fellows with similar ideals to them. If people find friends in the game, people to chat too and maybe have a laugh with, there's a greater chance they'll stick around and become more involved.

For a long time now our alliance politics have been dominated by a small group of players, most of whom are either dead, dying or left the UK scene. I feel this has left us severely lacking players ready to jump into alliance level politics and it is something I wish to remedy by giving the new generation opportunities to get involved.

Should we find ourselves in an alliance this coming term one thing I will keenly promote is a more inclusive system of communication between allies. At present I'd favour an alliance chatroom open to players involved in member governments.
It would merely be a social hang out for players to discuss current events or just have a chat, more importantly though it would go a long way to getting our players aware of who's who and our up and coming players' names out there more.

It goes without saying that there would be a far more secure room for meetings to take place. I would be willing to have players who have shown promise andkeenness to join general meetings to give them a feel of the environment and again to get them noticed a bit more.
If we're going to have a commanding role in future alliances we must get players up to scratch and send out the message that we're a nation with a depth of quality.

Before anyone thinks I'll be taking Dapper with me to sensitive meetings; obviously if there's a meeting entitled “Top Secret Naughty Naughty War Plans” then rest assured only the necessary members would attend.

I hope such a move, combined with system of communication I will implement, will help ready the newer generation to step up to the plate

Ministries: Roles and Responsibilities

- Keeping Commanders in the loop.
- Updating orders via IRC, Chain Mails and the MoD Newspaper.
- Military strategy and co-ordination.

Minister
I am looking for an experienced candidate and/or one whom knows the game mechanics very well to lead the team. It sounds an obvious thing but trust me we've had to negotiate with MoDs who didn't know the basics nor could be bother to look at a map.

Deputies
I am also looking for players to help out with orders, gain experience and be someone to bounce ideas off of. Preferably we'd have a spread of players across times to ensure orders are updated whenever possible, so if applying please make a note of when you're able to be online to do updates.

- Opening/Maintaining dialogue with other nations.
- Establishing our position in the eWorld.
- Laying the foundations for a possible alliance transition.
- Keeping a finger on the pulse of World events.

Minister - NWG
I've asked that NWG continue to head the MoFA because he's an experienced played that I trust to get on with the job. His continuation too will bring in a smooth transition of negotiations that have already taken place, hopefully avoiding any obfuscation.

Deputies
A keen interest in foreign affairs and IRC activity is a must.
Deputies will be there to assist the MoFA in opening and maintaining channels of communications with foreign governments. Ultimately how deputies are utilised will be at the discretion of the MoFA.
I would like for one or two players to produce articles in regards to the global events, a weekly round up will more than suffice.

- GET ME PAID BITCHES.
- TG Loans
- Continuation of general money making practices
- Player Investment Opportunities. (exploiting the MM once we have congress)
- Utilisation of unused orgs. (current orgs in use will not be effected!)
- Advising congress and government on financial implications pertaining to laws/investments.

Minister of Finance
I'm looking for a player familiar with investing via orgs and – assuming we get congress in December – someone who is knowledgeable of exploiting issuing money. This practice too will need explaining to congressmen to ensure requisite laws are made and passed. If we get this nailed I would like to roll this out as a national investment opportunity.

General monetary practices include MM fishing and perhaps resource investment depending on changes in the game (missions, module alterations etc).

Deputies
First and foremost TG loans. The offer usually arises just after the CP elections so any deputies will be asked to get the information out there, gauge the levels of interest and where loans will need to go....after time you may need to chase players who aren't paying back, baseball bats will be provided. (There will be restrictions in place at the discretion of the MoF)

Aside from that, reports, guides...anything the MoF asks of you really. If you're experienced you might even get some cash to throw about/wisely invest.

- Help Chaz with dull stuff.
- Set up congress spam

Minister
Nice and simple this one. As I've stated communication will be a key aspect throughout my potential despotism. I'm looking for someone to be on hand willing to commit 15-30 minutes of their time every so often to help with communications.

I would like to open dialogue and get the ball rolling with congress as soon as possible. So long as we obtain Christmas Congress I'll ask that you befriend congressmen and open the group messages. Once opened it's down to them if they chose to elected a speaker or just continue as is. This process has gone on for over a week in the past so the sooner the better.

Of course should I win I am merely keeping the seat warm for our beloved leader in exile, Alex. As such I am not going to stand in the P.S.P.'s way of keeping our streets clean and safe.

If you want to get involved and have ideas then get in touch! I'm happy for things such as the Ministry of Entertainment to continue but I don't want to point at someone as say “Dance monkey, dance!”. Give me an idea of what you would like to do and from there I can judge how much shame you'd bring to the nation!

If you want to apply for a role then it couldn't be simpler:
Just send me a PM saying what you want to do and what you can bring to the role.

Apologies for the length of the article!
Huzzah!
