[BOK]Behind closed doors: eBelgian Congress

Day 2,001, 06:45 Published in Belgium Belgium by Boklevski
Introduction
First of all: why have I given this article the title “behind closed doors”? Am I going to reveal all kinds of dirty secrets? Is the Congress such an off-limits place? Sorry, but no. There aren’t any really dirty secrets to share (otherwise, I’d love to do it, of course), and Congress debates are open for everyone (to read and to participate).

Then what about those closed doors? Well, not everybody is registered on the forum… and then, sometimes it looks like Congress operates behind closed doors. Therefore, feel free to open these doors yourself and register on the eBelgian Forum: http://www.erepbelgium.com. It’s very easy to register, everything is in English for our international players, so there’s no reason not to visit the forum. Oh, if you’re Dutch: it’s free…. good… now you don’t have any excuse anymore either.

I do understand that not everybody can or wants to come to the forum, and therefore I have published this article. In a few lines, I want to express my personal experience and opinion on some current debates. This is in line with the policy of the party on behalf of which I am Congress Member: All TOgethers. We aim to bring All TOgether. Not only those registered on the forum! When I joined, I was surprised to see that ATO even has an in-game PM to discuss all kinds of topics and involve all party members. So if you’re looking for a party or a fresh switch… feel free to have a look at ATO!

All right, enough babbling. What are the current topics in Congress? A part, you’ll find in the latest Congress Newspaper. I want to add a few personal notes:

Legal Reform Committee
On the forum, we have many laws to regulate all kinds of… stuff. And with ‘many’, I really mean ‘many’. Imagine the amount of scandals involving LiLo, which is big, and then even more. It’s huge. Unclear, also. Therefore, a Legal Reform Committee was thought of, in which 9 members of the forum will look at all laws and try to make it all a bit more simple and understandable. I volunteered (or was I put forward?), so I would become part of that group. It became quiet after the initial idea, so I just raised the vote to get that committee into place. Time to have a good look at all those laws… less is more!
Follow the vote here.

Immigration Law
As every eCountry, we have some guidelines to have a look at who is applying for eBelgian Citizenship. We don’t want a political group to take over our beloved country. However, the procedures to scan this are pretty long. Most requests have to wait 3 or 4 days (or even longer); which is quite a while since requests disappear after 7 days. In a new law proposal, this time is reduced to approx. 2 days. This should reduce the time that people have to wait, make it more clear for Congress Members when to accept, but also preserve the security that the immigration procedure gives.
The proposal is currently being discussed here.

CoT and TWO
There is a lot going on in the world of alliances. It’s a bit long to exactly detail the situation, but it’s enough to say that we are in CoT, and that some expect that CoT and TWO relations might change some day.

We are well at home in CoT, and we should keep those warm ties. Especially during the last war with France, we managed to stay alive thanks to many of our allies, but that also includes ePoland. Whatever happens, I have the firm belief that, while eUK and ePoland are both in TWO, we should be proud of and careful with the good relations we have with these countries. We should keep those relations with eUK and ePL in mind with every choice we make and every vote we cast concerning alliances, regardless of what happens between CoT and TWO.

Approved Citizenships
One of the tasks that Congress Members have is accepting citizenship requests, based on the advice of the motivated Immigration Officer Zangetsu-osan. Some newcomers have said hi on the forum, but for those who can’t access that, a few names (I can't name all of them):

First, I want to welcome back G.W.Junior after a short stay abroad.

Also, special welcome to Konrad Neumann, who was living in eUNL long ago when I was there as well (Konrad, we’re getting old).

(Co-)founder of an Anti-Take Over group “People of Justice” Alexey Kondratov is going to rebuild his prestigious group PoJ to its former glory in eBelgium. Alexey, it’s great to see you’ve chosen eBelgium!

Not an approved citizenship, but worthwhile to mention: el1temkd has resurrected from eDeath! We knew you couldn't miss us...

Closing out
Good, that’s it from me. Leave a comment with whatever you like. If you want something brought into the Congress, and you cannot or don’t want to do it yourself, don’t hesitate to send me a personal message. (Also, feel free to add me as friend, at least that helps you with not having to type that darn captcha).

After all, I was elected by you, so I’ll work for you!

Kind regards,

Boklevski,
eBelgian Congress Member
