[BOK] Announcing presidential candidacy

Day 833, 07:21 Published in Netherlands Belgium by Boklevski

Dear fellow citizens,

You have seen that a number of people is running for Country President in the upcoming elections. I hereby announce that I will join that group, and run for Country President myself. Initially, I had no intentions of doing so, but I feel that I represent a part of the voters in eUNL that might have troubles finding a president amongst the candidates that represents them, mainly on the areas of the current eBelgium situation, balancing of power, stability in our country and economically responsible leadership in the crisis.

First of all, the situation with eBelgium is reaching a crossroad at this very moment. A vote has been raised on the forum where your opinion is asked about the situation. Whatever the outcome, the final choice about eBelgium lays with the Belgians. I sincerely hope that this will be a choice that benefits all to the maximum; as combining our strengths has proven very beneficial last year. Taking eBelgium by force is in no scenario the right way, we can only achieve something constructive through diplomacy between our nations. However, the situation is very complicated. I think this requires the right president, also in eUNL. I have close connections with many Belgian players, both in eBelgium and eUNL, and I hope I have built up a certain amount of credit, amongst other things because my eLife-long membership of the Belgian Party. I can and will approach the situation with great care – and a delicate approach is something that is really required here! If I am elected, I will have clarity about eBelgium at the end of my mandate, whatever the decision/outcome. We might decide to remerge, to stay split up or to look at possibilities when foreign threats are over. However, I will get clear what way to go. This will enable both countries and their population to move forward, and no longer live in uncertainty!

In the eUNL, I&W has achieved a great victory in the Congress Elections. Also, the current president is a member of I&W. I hear sounds of people claiming that I&W is some kind of dictatorial party. This is definitely not true! It is a party that represents many eUNL citizens, and based on that, has a big political influence. Despite the fact that I am not an I&W member (nor a member of the other coalition partners), I am able to work together with the current congress and government, also due to being a congressmember for five consecutive myself, and due to being related to the government as advisor. If I am president, I will not think in parties. I can and will work together with everybody open to cooperation. The fact that I do not belong to a party in the government is only beneficial, in my opinion, to ensure that many opinions are taken into account when decisions are made.

What we need most in eUNL is stability. We need to be able to rely on things. Many of you know me as someone who is not impulsive, but calculating, asking and weighting all opinions. This is what we currently need. We do not need rash decisions that are not well thought over. We need a stable and calculated approach, in political, military and economical affairs. Military, we must be able to count on our allies, and also be a good example as an ally ourselves. Politically, we must assure a stable, respectful and open environment to express all opinions. Economically, we need to provide a stable climate for new players and company owners/investors in our country.

Economy is also one of the topics many citizens are worried about. I have a background in economics, and experience as eUNL Minister of Finances in three mandates. If I am elected as your president, I will look forward to work together with Luuklag (MoF) and Auggustus (MoE) to combine our strengths and help the economy forward in any way possible. eUNL needs to be economically strong to be a noteworthy player and valuable ally in the eWorld.

Some might doubt my experience in foreign affairs. Some might doubt other areas where I lack experience. However, as president, I will not have the power. The power lays with the people! The power lays in the chosen government. The power lays in the Congress you have elected a few days ago. The power lays with you. Now, use that power to vote for a Country President that will not let you down!

Kind regards,
Boklevski
