[Aramec4CP] Worthwhile

Alea iacta est...

This may come as a surprise, but I'm not someone who naturally has a lot of confidence. Both in life and in this game, I more often than not need people to lean on. My greatest accomplishments have always been those done with my friends, and my greatest counseling has always come from those who I know truly care.

It was in conferring with a friend a few weeks ago that said friend of mine asked me to list all of my achievements and titles in this game. They told me I was being too hard on myself, and that this exercise would be a reminder of the good I had done. So, for the first time, I assembled the resume of all I had done as both Aramec and Athanaric:

-Vice President (⅓ Term)
-Chief of Staff (1 Term)
-Secretary of State (2 Terms)
-Deputy Secretary of State (2 Terms)
-Secretary of Citizen Affairs (1 Term)
-Secretary of the Interior (4 Terms)
-Human Resources Director for the Department of Interior (1 Term)
-Director of Mass Messaging for the Department of Interior (2 Terms)
-Secretary of Media (8 Terms)
-Special Projects Director for the Department of Media (1 Term)
-Director of the Pony Express for the Department of Media (2 Terms)
-Secretary of Homeland Security (1 Term)
-Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security (1 Term)
-Deputy of Fun (2 Terms)
-AMP Party President (2 Terms)
-UIP Party President (2 Terms)
-Stardust Crusaders Founder and Party President (1 Terms)
-Liberty Advancement Party Co-Founder and Party President (1 Term)
-Deputy Speaker of the House (1 Term)
-Congressional Whip (2 Terms)
-Congessman (18 Terms)

Aside from fancy schmancy titles, I have accomplished a great deal in the course of five and a half years here. From reshaping the way the Federalist Bureau of Investigation works with Malarkey to cohosting eNPR with my good friend Derphoof, from ghost writing for esteemed presidents to overseeing the merger of Interior and Education over the last three months, and from learning the ropes of Foreign Affairs as New Azazel's Secretary of State to founding and promoting various parties, it's been a very packed adventure. There have been highs and lows, but I've always come back swinging.

Sometimes, literally.

Playing this game has always been worth it because of all of you. Hanging out on IRC, plotting and enacting various plans and projects, writing storms of media, and faffing about on the forums; these things are why people stick around. They are the brick and mortar of our social order.

The reason our efforts at Retention fail is primarily due to use forgetting why we ourselves stick around. We get cloistered in our community, burrow down and make it hard for new people to penetrate the walls we've put up. And, mechanically speaking, there's not much of a reason for people to stick with this game. War and elections are stuff to do; friends and foes are worthwhile engagements.

It is with that intent - of providing a solid month of actual community engagement - that I am declaring my run for Country President.

The tides of both our domestic and foreign ambitions are ripe for the harvest, and over the course of the next week, I'll show you what I've got in terms of plucking those fruits. I am extremely confidant that everything I have worked to assemble - from my cabinet to my plans for September - will ensure us a month to remember. We have had enough of just gentle coasting, of efficiency without heart; now is the time to truly seize upon our opportunities and to celebrate our triumphs together.

Under my term in office, the month of September will be all about us. I've seen good presidents and bad presidents, and been in many of their cabinets. Consequently I have a thorough understanding of what works and doesn't. It has been a long while since there has been a presidency that gave us true enjoyment, and not just false promises or under-thought plans. There are no half measures that I will be giving you with my term.

It's time we enjoyed ourselves and our time here again.

I have the team, I have the tools, I have the temperament. I wanna make your time next month rock, and I'm certain I'm the halfling who can do so. But as I've stated previously, I can't get it done alone. In my next article, I'll introduce the people who are gonna help make the magic happen.

I'm looking forward to sharing my ideas with you over the course of the next week and a half. You're gonna like what you see. I guarantee it.
