[Ambassador] Interview with the eUK CP Aaron Mark Daniels

Day 2,819, 11:21 Published in Germany Croatia by Nathan Maximillian Stark

Greetings, friends and comrades.
It's been four days since the last presidential elections, and the appointed Heads of State have already started warming up those comfy chairs in their offices. In the light of my ambassadorial duty, I decided to visit the office of the newly elected Prime Minister of the eUnited Kingdom, Aaron Mark Daniels, and get myself (and my faithful readership) a bit more acquainted with him through an interview. Upon entering 10 Downing Street, I found him in the middle of an important government business, and thought of leaving and returning at a more convenient time. However, he graciously set aside his work, and found time to immediately answer all the questions I had. What follows is a transcript of our 'live interview', containing his honest opinions, thoughts and experiences. Enjoy.

(not really relevant, but I like it)

NMS: Hi! Thank you for giving us a minute of your precious time. Let’s begin with the obligatory introduction. What can you tell us about yourself? Who is Aaron Mark Daniels?
Aaron Mark Daniels: I am Aaron Mark Daniels, a 17 year old politics and history student, in game and RL UK. I like video games, politics and an occasional spot of reading. In game I am the UK CP.

NMS: How did you first come across eRepublik, and when?
Aaron Mark Daniels: I first came across eRep in a Facebook ad, but didn't sign up. I then began searching for politics games in late October last year, and here I am. 😛

NMS: What's your favorite aspect of the game?
Aaron Mark Daniels: It is a cross between the politics module and the media. The politics because YOU CAN HAVE ALL THE POWER xD. Seriously though it allows you to get things done, you can feel e-important for a brief period of time, and the media, because the community is best thing about this game.

NMS: How much time do you spend on eRepublik every day?
Aaron Mark Daniels: The time spent has dramatically increased xD. I used to do a lot anyway, it being summer, me being a student, and having nothing to do. Nowadays I am on most of the time, usually idling in IRC or plug.dj/euk (cheeky advert ;P) so I am usually on and if you wish to contact me I am usually punctual (unless sleeping 😛).

NMS: This is your first term serving as CP. What got you into politics in the first place, and what made you decide to candidate for CP?
Aaron Mark Daniels: This is indeed my first term as CP. I entered politics at first in October upon entering the game really, I joined my party and immediately candidated for Congress, getting in in December. In October I became the UK Ambassador to Germany actually (so some parallels between us there Nathan). The reason I signed up to eRep in the first place is because I am interested in politics and thought the in-game implementation of politics was good fun 😃 It has been no secret for a few months I have wanted to run for CP, and after serving as vCP, I thought why not, we could do with a left wing CP. 😛

NMS: What’s your current plan for the eUK in this presidential term? Are there any areas you’re particularly focusing on?
Aaron Mark Daniels: My current plan, and the main focus for this term is Argentina. We need to shape a better deal, regain some land and free the people of the United Kingdom. I cannot say much more except talks have been taking place, and will continue to. After that I suppose improvise 😛

NMS: Tell us something about the current situation in the eUK. Are there any major problems or disagreements within the nation?
Aaron Mark Daniels: Carrying on from the last question actually, we have 10 regions wiped by Argentina. There was a deal signed last term by Appleby, my predecessor which caused a huge disagrrement in the UK. The major disagreement at the moment is whether to be openly hostile or pursue negotiations. Other than that, UK is a friendly place with a booming and vibrant community, probably the reason many of us choose to stick around. 😃

NMS: In your opinion, what is the biggest problem eUK is currently faced with?
Aaron Mark Daniels: eUK is currently faced with losing its population due to low morale or no fun. We need to increase the fun and the freedom 😃

NMS: What are your thoughts on the global situation right now? Where do you think does the eUK fit when it comes to the global politics?
Aaron Mark Daniels: eUK is in a political limbo, haha. No official alliances, however we are in a decent situation as we have many loyal allies who we are eternally grateful to and they offer us a ton of loyalty in return. We are a small nation, but in no way are we insignificant.

NMS: What moment, event or battle would you like to highlight as your favorite?
Aaron Mark Daniels: Hmm... Other than being elected CP? 😛 My favourite moment was being elected Party President for the first time. 😃 Other than that I always enjoy the days coming up to an election, the campaigning and articles are of top quality banter.

NMS: In your opinion, what was the best eRepublik alliance (to date)?
Aaron Mark Daniels: I haven't had that much experience with alliances. 😛 So I'm gonna say Banana Alliance, as UK were a founding member. At the moment I could not possibly comment on the best alliance. 😃

NMS: Who do you consider to be the eUK's best and most faithful allies? Are there countries you could never be in an alliance with?
Aaron Mark Daniels: Depending on who is reading, I wont answer that last part. 😛 eUK's best and most faithful allies. There are too many to name really, we are friendly with Venezuela, Ireland, Germany, Belgium, Chile, Mexico and many other that I cannot name off the top of my head. 😉

NMS: What changes do you think should be implemented into eRepublik?
Aaron Mark Daniels: The dictatorship module needs to go, it gives too much power to the people who have been playing longer and have more strength. And I read on the wiki there used to be mayoral elections that would be cool and they should bring that back. 😃

NMS: We are witnessing a sharp decrease in the number of active players of eRepublik. Some even think the game will be shut down in a couple of years. What, in particular, keeps you playing?
Aaron Mark Daniels: The reason I am still here, except for the politics, is definitely the community of eRepublik and especially eUK. I know it is on a downwards trend, but I have made genuine friends from this community, and it is a fun way to spend your time if you have nothing to do.

NMS: What do you think about eGermany’s community and eGermany as a whole?
Aaron Mark Daniels: eGermany... I am not too familiar with their community, mainly because I do not speak the language haha. From my brief time over there as ambassador I know that you are a friendly community and have always been friendly to the eUK. Hopefully friendly relations can be upheld. 😃

NMS: Thank you for your time! Is there anything else you would like to say or add?
Aaron Mark Daniels: Though cowards flinch and traitors sneer, we'll keep the Red Flag flying here! Thank you for the interview and hello people of eUK and eGermany! 😉
And a gif:

In the end, I would like to thank Aaron Mark Daniels once again for agreeing to the interview. Hopefully, the friendly relations between our two nations will continue in the future. o7
